Finding some normality....
The biggest thing I have been hoping for the last couple of weeks is some sense of normality, and for me I guess that comes in the form of routine. I am such a creature of habit, of daily routine, that having absolutely no idea what is going to happen one second to the next for the last 7ish weeks has been really wearing me down! Following Xander's needs is exhausting! But thankfully he is growing and adapting to the world! He is such a little person these days. He is even developing a fairly predictable routine (THANK GOD!!!!) Our mornings are filled with coos and giggles of delight (in what I have no idea most of the time- the light, the white wall, his imaginary friends?) we play 'follow mommy' because he can follow me around the room with his eyes, now, and we sing songs (well, I sing songs, he actually seems to listen with enjoyment.... clearly he hasn't developed his sense of hearing fully yet!). He takes a nap in the afternoon, gets up again in the evening, and 'sleeps' at night. Nate and I are each getting one long stretch of sleep at night, most of the time we aren't too over the top sleep deprived! Things are actually starting to normalize and feel pretty darn good!
He holds his head up pretty well, and I have been letting him take one nap in the afternoon on his stomach to help him with that. He also practices everyday at getting that hand or thumb in his mouth. He's getting it there, just hasn't mastered keeping it there, yet!
Over the weekend X and I got to visit with his cousins from North Carolina! They are his only cousins so far, so we were very excited to see them! Unfortunately we didn't get any photos of them all together.... but we did get a couple of X (of course):
The sandhill cranes were just going nuts out back! I think they were teaching their baby how to find them..... the baby is sooo much bigger than when I posted last! He must be two feet tall now, and his neck is more than long enough for him to bend down and get his worms! He looks like a miniature Big Bird!
Well, X man is stirring is the next room, I guess its time for lunch!!
