We're Never Normal

We're never normal. We don't do things the way everyone else does, and we often end up bucking plans. I love living in Florida, I love the hot weather, the quick drive to the beach, the lightening storms, the dry season wild fires, and our tropical weather. I didn't find it that crazy that I fell in love with a man whose as unconventional and life-loving as I am. I have a bizarre fascination with hurricanes and Nate has made his career from being in hurricanes. So, I really shouldn't be surprised that the little person we are bringing into this world seems to be behaving just like us.

I mentioned before that my blood pressure suddenly spiked, and unfortunately it doesn't seem to be getting any better, in fact it may be getting worse. Once you reach full-term if you suddenly develop pregnancy induced hypertension the standard is to induce labor before you or the baby get into any real danger. I have been very unhappy about this, I had come to terms with the reality of labor, I had come to understand the need for c-sections, I just hadn't been able to wrap my brain around being induced. But, since my condition seems to be deteriorating rather than improving my intellectual side is taking over. Intellectually I know that for the health of the baby it would be better to induce before I get worse and may end up needing a c-section. Inducing increases the chances of both of us having a normal labor and delivery. I have almost come to terms with this, and have been working to let go of the romantic dream I had of a traditional delivery brought on when my body went naturally into labor.

So, as I said, I'm not surprised that this baby seems to be just like his Mom and Dad. He is determined to come on his own schedule, and possibly during a freak tropical storm, while the whole state seems to be on fire.

How weird is this tropical storm??? We were already prepared for a bad hurricane season, but it's not hurricane season yet! SO weird! And there is almost no visibility outside because of the fires. I couldn't believe it when I let Inca out this morning, I couldn't see our lake (just a few hundred feet away) or the road through our trees behind our house. The entire Orlando area is just blanketed under the smoke, some of which is being blown in by the freak tropical storm. This is a weird week and I'll keep everyone informed of what ends up happening!

Good luck with the baby - however it turns out. Congrats on making it this far healthy, regardless of what's going on now.

I do miss the weather and weirdness of florida... you went and made me get a little homesick again. :).
