Happy New Year 2007!
Wow! I can't believe it's 2007. I remember thinking when I was a kid that I would be 27 in the year 2007 and that would be really cool, but that was a million years away. Holy crap! This year is going to be so chock full its making my head swim, but I CAN'T wait for it all! Let's run down the list of things happening that I can think of off the top of my head: It's both my 'golden' year and Cristy's (I turn 27 on the 27th, she turns 23 on the 23rd), its both my parents and Nate's parents 30th anniversaries, Sabrina graduates from elementary school and starts middle school, and there's something else..... hmmmm.... oh yeah! We're having a baby, duh! Seriously awesome year coming up!I am starting my new job sometime in the next week, I'm excited and anxious about that. It kinda feels like the jitters I would get the night before the new school year would start. But, overall I'm just excited.
Baby Sykes sounded great at our doctors appointment this week, and we finally get the big ultrasound on Nate's birthday. The appointment has been made, there is no turning back now! It killed me to say no to getting the ultrasound at this week's appointment, but I'm willing to wait so that Nate can be there too! We are 19 weeks and three days today and there is no hiding the fact that I am pregnant anymore. I'm just glad to have graduated from 'do I look fat or pregnant in the outfit' to 'wow, I really do look pregnant!' I got lots of beautiful maternity clothes for Christmas from our families, and I just spent the afternoon ordering more online. I have definitely started developing a sense of what I will and won't wear and comfort is huge! Luckily both families bought me nearly identical tee-shirts from Motherhood that I have been living in since Christmas. Best of all, the last few weeks I have been feeling little stirrings that I was pretty sure weren't me, but I wasn't positive were the baby.... well, I'm positive now. Baby Sykes gets stronger every day, and I am starting to feel the cause and effect of food on those squirmings. The last couple of days it has kind of felt like Baby Sykes is flipping around like a gymnast, poking me near my ribs one minute, then down near my intestines the next. Its too much fun! I just hope he/she doesn't hurt me too much in the coming months!
Christmas was great this year, first we spent it with Nate's family in St. Augustine, then with my family down in Cape Coral. The best part was that in both locations it was really relaxing. This year has just been non-stop action and it was the perfect way to end the year. I have finally gotten over the 'ahhhhhh!' feeling of having at least two Christmas' every year and started to enjoy the striking similarities and differences of each of our families. The funniest was when we were in St. Augustine watching Pirates of the Caribbean 2, and my family called to say goodnight while watching Pirates 2 as well. :-)
Nate has our Christmas photos, so I can't post those, but here are some of what we have been up to since then!
