Dare Devil!

My little guy had the time of his life yesterday. We spent a whopping $4 to experience the non-stop excitement of an indoor inflatable playground. It has to be one of the most exciting days we've had yet. At first Xander just thought he was having a blast sliding down the enormous slides with Mommy and Daddy... then Mommy let him go down by himself. We have created a monster.

He is now a lean, mean sliding machine, further evidenced today at church. Xander was fast asleep when we got there, thanks to a VERY early morning...... and woke up during some of the louder music. We have recently discovered that Xander thinks that talking is a two way street. At Mamma Mia he sang back at the screen after songs, when Blue's Clue's is on he yells the answers at Steve, and on a ride at Disney last week Xander talked and talked back to the characters in the show. This morning Xander thought church would also be a great place to talk, the congregation was singing and the pastor was talking, so why shouldn't he?

Not wanting to further disrupt the service Nate took him out to the playground, and we discovered that Xander no longer had any fear of sliding down any slides on his own. It's so wonderful to see something so simple bring him so much joy, but on the down side, he doesn't really climb up jungle gyms yet.....how do you think he gets back up to the top of the slide? Thats right... mommy. I swear I will not need to work out much for the next few months because I will be going up and down slides!

In other news, we have finally solved the mystery of Inca's mysterious skin condition. It turns out after several vets (who were apparently completely clueless about Husky genetic conditions) suggesting it was most likely caused by various allergies, that it has nothing to do with it. While Inca may have some allergies that are compounding the problem, they are not the culprit. Inca suffers from a very common (hey vet, did you hear that, VERY COMMON) Zinc deficiency. When huskies in particular, but northern breeds in general, have trouble absorbing zinc they begin to develop skin problems manifesting specifically around their noses and eyes, and sometimes their ears. Anyone who has seen Inca during an outbreak knows that is exactly what he suffers from. Inca has been getting a Zinc supplement for about a week now and it's almost a if he were miraculously cured. It only took five years... my poor puppy!!

Xander starts swim lessons in the morning! We are so excited!!!
